Is It Really The End?

Last week, millions of people celebrated the anniversary of their spiritual leader's rise from the dead.  Today, I sit contemplating reviving the seven day challenges.

I have a week bike ride planned for this coming week. The ride consists of 500+ miles from S.F. to L.A.  and will take just under seven days.

However, the planned is not always what happens. My Uncle, who has been facing his own challenges in life, is in the hospital. He has been battling cancer in his body for the past few years. Last week, he was stung by a bee and went into anaphylactic shock. This led to cardiac arrest. He is currently unconscious in the hospital. He has been unconscious a few days and is said to be this way for a week. The outlook on his recovery is not good.

I would not wish to face the challenges that my Uncle has faced. He has been challenged by death and did not step down. The fear that cancer would bring him to his end did not affect the way he lived his life. He was not going to give up the things he loved or the things he lived for in order to have a mere physical presence.

You can choose to live in a padded room all day with the chance of surviving longer, but is this to truly live? Possibly, but for myself I say no and I believe my Uncle would agree with me. Life is not just about survival, but about getting out there and enjoying those things you do.

As for what is next, that is not yet written. All I wish is for everyone to have the bravery to fight the fear, face the challenge, and to live.

This is not the end.
